Joie Gatlin

HEAD TRAINER

Joie is one of the leading competitors on the national show jumping circuit. A brief overview of a few of her victories supports this statement. As a junior competitor, she won the United States Equestrian Team Medal Finals, the Rhulen Rookie of the Year, as well as several other national championships.

 

As a professional, she has ridden several hunters to Horse of the Year Awards, won Grand Prix Show Jumping classes, represented the United States in World Cup competitions, and competed in the Olympic Trials. As a member of the West Coast Active Riders European Tour, Joie won several European Grand Prix. She also received the Leading Lady Rider Award at Royan, France.

 

Like other talented professionals, Joie loves Grand Prix horses, made and developing. She carries a reputation for improving experienced horses as well as successfully developing young, talented jumpers into Grand Prix show jumpers.

 

Joie loves horses, competing, teaching and traveling. Her successes are a direct result of combining her love for the sport with natural talent, focus and determination. She is a well-respected role-model for professionals and non-professionals.

Savannah Hemby

ASSISTANT TRAINER/RIDER

Originally from Argyle, Texas, Savannah Hemby joined the JG Show Stables team in January 2024 as an Assistant Trainer and Rider.

 

During her Junior years, she took home the 2018 Hunterdon Cup Reserve Championship, rode to an 8th place finish in the 2019 ASPCA Maclay Finals, represented Zone 7 on the 2019 Silver Medal winning Prix des States Team, and was awarded the William C. Steinkraus Style of Riding Award at the 2019 Pennsylvania National Horse Show. 

 

After a successful junior career, Savannah graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s of Communications and Business Administration. While attending college, Savannah was part of Baylor’s NCAA Equestrian Team, being named to the 2021 All-Big 12 Fences Team.

 

Savannah has recently competed with her personal horse, Juju VDM, winning multiple National Grand Prix titles, representing the United States in multiple FEI starts, and jumping the 4* World Cup Qualifier in Fort Worth, Texas, in both 2022 and 2023.

 

With her successful equitation background and international jumping experience, Savannah enjoys teaching riders the ropes of equitation and developing young horses into confident Grand Prix prospects. 

Lisa Motschke

Lisa Motschke 

BARN MANAGER

Lisa grew up in Bad Soden, Germany. After graduation she successfully completed an apprenticeship in the field of  ¨Classical Riding” at the barn of Markus Wenz .

 

Lisa competed up to 1.35m classes and also rode dressage. She worked with a lot of young horses, breaking them and getting them ready for the show ring. 

 

In 2007, Lisa started working as an international groom at Dietmar Gugler’s barn. At this time, Dietmar was the trainer of the young riders in Germany. Later, Lisa took over the tasks of the stable manager at his barn. 

 

Lisa has worked with international riders such as, David Will (successful in many Nations Cups for Germany)  and Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli (Team bronze for Sweden , 2013 at the European Championship in Denmark).

 

In 2018, Lisa came to the US and started working for Joie Gatlin - Morley Abey Showjumping.  In 2019, Lisa became the barn manager and has been making everything run smoothly since then.

Carrie Coker

HOME TRAINER/RIDER

Carrie started riding when she was 12 years old with Mark Mullen and Victor Hugo-Vidal. She grew up showing in the hunter and equitation divisions. When she was 17 years old she became a working student for Tracy Burroughs at Windsong Farm and continued working as a professional for 26 years. During that time Carrie got to ride all types of horses and teach all ages from beginners to Grand Prix riders.

 

While working, Carrie met her husband Jesse who is a horse shoer. They started a family so Carrie cut back on working to raise their two daughters and son. Now as the kids are getting older, she has enjoyed returning to training again.

 

Carrie joined the Joie Gatlin team in 2021 and helps Joie at the home barn with riding and teaching. She loves riding all the nice horses and enjoys teaching such dedicated riders and helping them achieve their goals.
